Summary
On the morning of December 12, 2021, a woman in Essen-Rüttenscheid, Germany, reported observing an unusual formation of lights through the upper section of her living-room window. She initially noticed a large bright light, followed by a second bright light and a pulsating red light. According to the witness, the three lights formed a triangle and moved silently in a curved path low over a neighboring house. The sighting was later reported to the German UFO research organization GEP.
Additional Notes
The sighting reportedly occurred at approximately 6:00 AM on December 12, 2021, in the Rüttenscheid district of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia. According to the witness, she first noticed a large, bright light while looking through the upper section of her living-room window. A second bright light subsequently became visible, together with a third light that she described as pulsating and “blood-red.” The three lights appeared to form a triangular arrangement. The witness reported that the formation moved silently along a curved path and passed low over a neighboring house. No accompanying sound was reported in the published account. The observation was not reported to the Gesellschaft zur Erforschung des UFO-Phänomens (GEP) until September 13, 2024, nearly three years after the event. The GEP's published report for September 2024 listed the case as still under investigation and provided no identification. The publicly available account does not provide photographs or video of the event, an exact observation address, a precise duration, estimated altitude or angular size, or detailed information about the movement and spacing of the individual lights. The nature of the reported formation therefore remains undetermined in the publicly available documentation.
The Location Today
Essen-Rüttenscheid remains a densely built neighbourhood of Essen, Germany. The reported triangular light formation was an aerial observation, with no dedicated visitor site identified.
