Summary
In late September 2023, a witness in northern Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, reported observing two large triangular objects traveling west near the New York state border. The objects followed the same path approximately 15 seconds apart and were described as roughly comparable in size to a jumbo jet. Using binoculars, the witness observed a distinctive arrangement of white and periodically flashing red lights. Both objects reportedly moved slowly and silently before disappearing from view after approximately 45 seconds to one minute.
Additional Notes
The sighting occurred at approximately 10:00 PM on either September 22 or September 23, 2023, a few miles south of the Pennsylvania–New York border in Susquehanna County. The witness was walking outside when he noticed two large triangular objects moving due west. He estimated them to be comparable in size to a jumbo jet and believed they were flying lower than aircraft he normally observed in the area. Each object reportedly displayed round white lights near the forward corners, a round red light in the central area that flashed periodically, and another white light positioned farther toward the rear. The witness specifically noted that the triangular shapes did not appear to have equal sides. After initially observing the objects with the naked eye, the witness obtained binoculars for a closer view. The second object followed approximately 15 seconds behind the first along the same flight path. Both moved relatively slowly and remained visible for an estimated 45 seconds to nearly one minute. No sound was noticed during the observation. The witness did not have a camera phone available and therefore obtained no photographs or video. Pennsylvania researcher Stan Gordon later documented the account and published a drawing based on the witness's observation. No publicly documented identification of the two objects has been found. With only a single witness account and no photographic or instrumental evidence, their nature remains undetermined.
The Location Today
Susquehanna County in northeastern Pennsylvania consists of small communities, roads and extensive rural land. The reported triangular objects were aerial observations; no designated public visitor site is established.
