Summary
During an instrumented paranormal investigation of Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich on September 1, 2026, investigators reported unusual environmental changes in two separate parts of the historic building. A kitchen sensor recorded a sudden temperature drop accompanied by a sharp rise in humidity, followed 100 seconds later by a similar change recorded by a separate sensor in the attic. The team also reported unexplained light anomalies and a later incident involving a noise and movement of a laser level. No conventional cause was identified by the investigators, although the reported anomalies have not been independently verified.
Additional Notes
On the night of September 1, 2026, the Paranormal Response Network conducted an instrumented investigation at Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich. Sensor arrays in the kitchen and attic continuously monitored temperature, humidity, air pressure and light, while cameras and audio equipment were also used throughout the building. At 22:32:06, the kitchen sensor reportedly recorded a rapid temperature decrease from 24.4°C to 22.3°C while relative humidity increased from 43.6% to 55.6%. At 22:33:46 — 100 seconds later — a separate sensor in the attic recorded a similar change, with temperature falling from 24.1°C to 22.8°C and humidity rising from 44.5% to 53.9%. According to the investigators, both changes occurred within seconds and the new readings then remained comparatively stable. The team examined several ordinary explanations. They reported that no nearby door or window sensor had been activated around the time of the changes and argued that the speed and step-like nature of the readings did not resemble a normal heating-system cycle. However, the published case report does not provide sufficient independent environmental data or raw sensor records to establish the cause of the changes conclusively. Several luminous anomalies were also recorded during the investigation. The investigators considered dust or small insects compatible with some of these images, while reporting that others remained unidentified. At 00:49:29, an unidentified noise was reportedly recorded immediately before a laser level moved on camera. Unlike the earlier event, no corresponding change appeared in the kitchen or attic environmental sensors. The investigation therefore produced several observations that the team could not explain, but none independently establishes paranormal activity. Further camera and audio material was still awaiting complete review when the case report was published, making the case appropriate for continued monitoring as additional information becomes available. This is a recently reported case. Information remains preliminary and may change as further evidence or investigation becomes available. BUT: Christchurch Mansion had also been associated with reported hauntings long before the 2026 investigation. A paranormal case database records a 1995 account in which a woman and her daughter reportedly saw a woman dressed in Victorian clothing who appeared to pass through a closed glass door. Other stories connected with the mansion include reports of a “Grey Lady” and an apparition of a woman accompanied by two children. These accounts form part of the building's longer paranormal folklore, although they are not independently verified and are separate from the instrumented events reported during the 2026 investigation.
